Madras ENT Research Foundation is a tertiary referral center catering to patients from all over India and abroad. This institute has state-of-the-art facilities in the field of Ear, Nose, Throat Diseases and Head and Neck Surgery. Madras ENT Research Foundation (MERF) is the brainchild of Prof. Mohan Kameswaran, who started it in the year 1996. Beginning with an initial bed strength of a mere 6 beds, MERF has today grown by leaps and bounds, into one of the biggest and best ENT hospitals in the country and in this part of Asia. Today MERF has expanded into a hi-tech 30 bedded hospital with all advanced diagnostic and therapeutic facilities under one roof. MERF is centrally located at Raja Annamalaipuram, Chennai, India. MERF has been in the forefront of the Cochlear Implant scenario in India with a series of 600 implants till date. Today MERF has one of the largest Cochlear Implant clinics not only in India, but in the whole of South Asia. In 2005, The first Auditory Brain-stem Implantation in South Asia was performed at this institute and in the current year MERF accomplished the feat of performing the First Pediatric Auditory Brainstem Implantation in Asia. The first series of Totally implantable Hearing Devices in this part of the world were also performed successfully at MERF last year. MERF has been active in introducing lasers in the field of Otorhinolaryngology. MERF is one of the first centers in India to introduce the KTP/532 laser, the most advanced ENT laser system in the world. Today, MERF has one of the largest series of laser operations any where in the world. ENT Specialists from all over India and abroad are regularly trained in the intricacies of various realms of ENT and Head and Neck Surgery, by the highly qualified and vastly experienced faculty of our institution.
