Fortis Hospital & Kidney Institute (FHKI), Rash Behari Avenue, Kolkata, is the first of its kind medical centre for renal care in East India. Dedicated to urology and nephrology, FHKI is a 43 bed super-speciality hospital which commenced operations in 1999. Since then, we have performed a number of kidney surgeries in East India, including the first successful laparoscopic donor nephrectomy in kidney transplant. We are also the pioneers of non-invasive procedures for removal of kidney stones by installing the first lithotripter machine in the region. Today, we are acclaimed as the tertiary referral centre for renal diseases and the preferred destination for renal transplants, not just in East India, but across India and the neighbouring countries. Our approach, based on patient centricity, integrity, teamwork, ownership and innovation, combines compassionate patient care with clinical excellence, to achieve a single-minded objective of saving and enriching lives.
